The village of Galaalti is 43 km from the Shabran district center and is 640 meters above sea level. The name means ‘the village under the castle’. The residence is named because of building on the bottom of the Chiragqala fortress belonging to IV-VI century AD. Near the village treatment of important mineral water comes out.Chirag Gala is an ancient castle that was built back in 4-5th centuries. It was part of the Gilgilchay long defense wall. We will start our hike in the village of Galaalti.

Most of the trail is going uphill through the forest area. After finishing last part we find ourselves in the area of the castle, spectacular views here are for sure (according to the weather).

Last day of the autumn count

Today is a bittersweet day. After just over a month of dedication, we’ve wrapped up the Besh Barmag Bird Migration Count. Although it was a joy and privilege, financial constraints and limited counters made it unsustainable to continue without additional support.

Despite the challenges, we managed to record an incredible 1,150,000 migrant birds, including an astonishing 180,000+ Little Bustards! A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped us along the way — from our extraordinary counters who put in tireless hours to the local community who supported us with logistics and encouragement and the people that thankfully made a donation.
